Six people died and 13 others were injured when a two-storey house collapsed near Noori Masjid in Malad Malwani. The government has announced a grant of Rs 4 lakh to the families of the victims. This information was given by the state’s environment minister Aditya Thackeray.
This accident happened due to heavy rain in Mumbai. Officials from the police and fire department rushed to the spot and rescue operations were started. However, the heavy rain was hampering the rescue operations. The police and firefighters have rescued about 15 people from the collapsed building.
Aditya Thackeray directed the district administration to provide immediate assistance to the families of the victims. Apart from Rs 4 lakh to the families of the dead, the injured will be given Rs 5,000 each. The accident happened at 2:38 pm on Thursday. A two-storey house in Malad Malvani had collapsed.
The district administration has also been asked to immediately provide assistance to the families of the deceased from the Chief Minister’s Assistance Fund. The government has also directed the administration to provide temporary shelter for the homeless.
